"Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable Service"
A message from our President
Happy New Year!
I hope 2021 will bring us the joy, happiness and success that we struggled to maintain in 2020. With the Covid 19 pandemic we shifted our activities and events to a virtual format and continue to stay engaged and active in the Greater Boston Community. We look forward to new leadership getting us through this crisis and reclaiming our commitment to Service to All Mankind in Psi Omega Chapter's 95th year.
Greetings and welcome to the official website of the phenomenal and outstanding Psi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated!
Psi Omega Chapter was chartered in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1926. Members proudly serve the Greater Boston area, providing programs and scholarships that address the needs of our community. We have 160 professional, college-educated women actively engaged in implementing the exciting Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable Service international program under the leadership of our International President, Glenda Baskin Glover. We have been working with heightened enthusiasm and passion, joining hands as we inspire our communities and renew our efforts to “Be of Service to All Mankind.
Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable Service includes five target programs:
Target 1: HBCU for Life: A Call to Action
Target 2: Women’s Healthcare and Wellness
Target 3: Building Your Economic Legacy
Target 4: The Arts!
Target 5: Global Impact
Through our signature program, #CAPSM, which stands for College Admissions Process, we support students' efforts to enter college. And we continue to leverage our Community Impact Days to engage in activities that will benefit the community and continue our commitment to lifelong service.
Our chapter focuses on “Sistership, Membership and Leadership” through five areas:
Identity and Values – knowing and being firmly connected with who we are and what we represent as individuals and leaders.
Guiding Foundational Principles – setting guiding principles that others can begin to expect from us.
Courage and Risk-taking – being courageous enough to take calculated risks, challenge the status quo and innovate.
Genuine Care to Advance Others – continuing to learn how to better serve others and genuinely support each other’s development.
Responsibility and Accountability – being exceptionally self-disciplined to hold ourselves accountable to consistently deliver high standards in our areas of focus every day, every step of the way.
Psi Omega Chapter has several signature events we welcome the community to attend including our annual and trademarked pINKWELL - ΨΩ AKA Beach Party with a purpose, held the third Thursday in August in Oak Bluffs, MA. Our bi-annual debutante program offers positive self image, role models, and personal development activities that promote high moral and ethical standards for young women. Along with the debutantes, young men, serving as escorts, attend workshops centered-around financial literacy, the college application process, and etiquette. The six-month program culminates with a formal ball that allows the community to acknowledge and celebrate the efforts of the debutantes, and their escorts, into mature cultured, confident, principled, and civic-minded women.
We hope that you will continue to visit our website for updated information about Psi Omega Chapter—which has proudly served the Greater Boston community for nearly a century—and our service programs, fundraisers, and events. Your support and participation in these worthwhile initiatives are greatly appreciated!
We welcome all active Sorors to our chapter meetings that occur on the 3rd Saturday of the month. Our next chapter meeting is February 20, 2021. Please email us if you would like to "visit us" during our virtual chapter meetings.
On behalf of the entire chapter, welcome to our website!
